Much of East and South-East Europe can be visited year-round, though the warmer summer months between May and September are most popular. July and August are peak months, as a rule, and so best avoided if you don’t like crowds. Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Northern Belarus and Poland can be very cold and dark during the winter months of November to March, and you may find some hotels and attractions closed. Skiing is popular in winter, although the limited number of daylight hours might not appeal.
