France is the perfect destination for a short city-break, a fun, ski holiday or a romantic getaway. The choices are endless and with the help of an AITO specialist you’re guaranteed to find your perfect trip. Accommodation ranges from luxury hotels and villas and spa resorts to apline chalets and farmhouse cottages. Camping is popular and sites are generally of a high standard, many with special facilities for families and young children. For a more adventurous holiday, try rock climbing in the Alps and the Pyrenees; horse riding in Burgundy; surfing in Biarritz; or rafting down the Gorge du Verdon in Provence. Or maybe you would prefer to…

  • Discover Paris, the city of romance. Wander along the banks of the Seine, lunch in the Eiffel Tower and admire the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and the Louvre
  • Visit the top wine estates and dine at fine restaurants on a tour of the great french gourmet regions of Provence or Burgundy
  • Take a trans-glacial ride on the world’s highest cable car in the town of Chamonix, situated in one of the most spectacular valleys of the French Alps. Visit in Summer to admire the endless wild flowers and meadows, or winter to take advantage of over 200km of downhill and cross-country ski slopes
  • Mingle with the rich and famous and admire the dazzling yachts in St. Tropez and watch the sunset as you dine in one of the many beach restaurants
  • Visit Napoleon’s birthplace in the cultural city of Ajaccio, and enjoy Corsica’s 600 miles of enchanting coastline

Spring offers the best weather to visitors, with beach tourism picking up in May. Temperatures are pleasant in autumn, although the cold starts to make itself felt towards the end of the season, even along the Côte d'Azur. Winter means playing in the snow in France's Alps and Pyrenees, though the Christmas school holidays are very busy. Mid-July through to the end of August is when most of the French take their annual five weeks' vacation and the half-desolate cities tend to shut down a bit accordingly, while the coasts and mountains can become especially busy.
