With its wealth of myths and legends, culture and history, Greece is an ideal holiday destination to feed your mind as well as enjoy some spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters. With more than fourteen hundred islands scattered throughout the Aegean and Ionian Sea, it’s an ideal beach holiday destination. If you’re looking for something a little bit different, AITO operators also offer a wide range of walking, sailing, adventure and cultural tours and accommodation of all levels.

  • Island-hop on a luxury yacht and visit some of the more remote and uninhabited of the lush Ionian islands, famed for their white beaches, olive groves and turquoise waters
  • Learn the secrets of Greek cookery from a master and spend your evenings at traditional tavernas on the little South Dodecanese island of Symi
  • Follow the ancient trails of Evia, Andros and Tinos on an Aegean islands hike and continue your trip by boat with a Caique cruise, searching out quiet coves for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing
  • Explore the classical sites of Greek Macedonia on an archaeological tour, featuring visits to the birthplace of Alexander the Great, the tomb of Phillip II and Mount Olympus
  • Marvel at the Parthenon and Acropolis in Athens, or travel inland to Meteora with its ancient Byzantine Monasteries and churches

Greek summers can be very hot and humid, and though the islands benefit from the cooling sea breeze, the most pleasant time to visit is in the shoulder seasons from April to mid-June, and late-August to mid-October. On the larger, more popular islands, some tourist attractions stay open year round, though most are closed for the winter between October and April. The most famous summer event is the Hellenic festival which takes place between June and September and features dance, drama, music and much more in ancient, mostly open-air theatres.
