8 nights escorted tour departing 18 and 30 October 2009

This two-centre tour allows time to explore Winnipeg as well as providing two full days out on the tundra surrounding Churchill. Venture into the wilderness in the comfort and safety of a specially-designed tundra vehicle which can go anywhere. It's heated and has an outdoor rear viewing platform. The bears aren't at all bothered by such a powerful all-terrain vehicle and will often stand on their hind legs to peer inside the windows. Often they simply ignore the vehicle and play-fight with one another nearby. The photographic opportunities are outstanding.

Itinerary

Day 1 Fly from London to Winnipeg (via Toronto or Montreal); transfer from specified group flight to an elegant city centre hotel for a two-night stay on a breakfast basis.
Day 2 Morning visit to the Manitoba Museum followed by a transfer to the Forks Market, with shopping time. Afternoon city tour followed by an evening at leisure.
Day 3 Transfer to the airport and take a charter flight north to Churchill. Transfer to your motel for a 4-night stay on a breakfast basis. Enjoy a welcome dinner and meet your naturalist guide.
Day 4 Take a full day tundra buggy tour in search of bears and other wildlife. Packed lunch and hot drinks provided on board buggy. Evening at leisure.
Day 5 Morning guided tour of Churchill and the surrounding area. Afternoon free to explore independently; taking the opportunity to visit the Eskimo Museum or the Parks Canada display.
Day 6 Second full-day tundra buggy tour in search of bears and other wildlife. Farewell dinner.
Day 7 Morning free to explore or take an optional activity such as a helicopter or husky trip (subject to availability). Charter flight back to Winnipeg and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 8 Morning free to explore at leisure; early afternoon group transfer to Winnipeg airport for the return overnight flight (via Toronto or Montreal) arriving early the next day.
