All along the rollercoaster Cantabrian coastline, through Asturias (where at times the mountains seem to come right down to the sea), the Rias Altas and Bajas of Galicia and the Atlantic-facing coastline of northern Portugal, you’ll find wonderful beaches – great stretches of silver and gold fringed with surf, sheltered coves, rock pools, sand dunes rich in wildlife, high cliffs, headlands unfolding.
There are many ”wild” beaches, totally undeveloped and ideal for surfers or those wishing to get away from it all, but just as many family beaches, in or near to towns with all the amenities close at hand.
There’s always something to discover, from authentic little fishing ports and resorts such as Comillas, Cudillero, Viveiro, Baiona, Viana do Castelo to vibrant seaside cities from stylish San Sebastian, Bilbao, Santander right round to Oporto.
